Your First Move

When your relationship has affected your working life

After a painful breakup, a toxic or abusive relationship, or another traumatic experience, finding your next step can feel difficult—even when you know you’re capable.

Perhaps you put your career aside, lost confidence in your judgement or became used to someone else questioning your decisions. You may need to earn independently again, but feel unsure how to explain a career gap, approach an employer or turn a business idea into something practical.

Your First Move gives you somewhere to begin. Take stock of your skills, explore what you want from work and prepare practical steps towards employment or a business. You don’t need to arrive feeling confident or knowing exactly what comes next. You can work privately in your workbook. You won’t be asked to share your relationship history.

Why is it free?

You deserve to understand what the support involves before making a financial commitment. Learn with Natalie, try the exercises and work towards a clearer direction, words to explain what you offer and a focused 30-day plan.

Natalie will also introduce The Next Move Is Hers, the paid programme for women who want to continue. There is no obligation to join. All five classes and the accompanying materials are free.

Five free classes with Natalie

Five free classes for women who want to build a business, change careers or rebuild their career.

Work towards a clear direction, a short introduction you can use with an employer or customer, and a realistic 30-day plan. Natalie will teach you through the exercises, with examples for both business and employment.

Five live online classes through Zoom and our private Facebook group. Mondays 5, 12, 19 and 26 October, and 2 November 2026. Each class runs from 10–11am Albania time (Europe/Tirane).

The five classes

Natalie teaches each class through Zoom and the Facebook group. You’ll have something small to try afterwards, with space to work it through in your workbook.

What do you want from work now?

If you’re changing or rebuilding your career, we’ll look at the roles, income and working arrangements you want. If you’re building a business, we’ll look at your idea, who it could help and how it could fit around your life. For both, we’ll consider the time, money and support you need.

Use your workbook to choose one career goal or one business idea to work on during the classes.

What skills can you build on?

For your career, we’ll find examples of your skills to use in a CV, application or interview, including experience outside paid work. For your business, we’ll look at how those skills could help a customer and why someone might pay for what you offer.

Write down one example of a skill you could bring to an employer or use to solve a customer’s problem.

How do you talk about what you offer?

If you’re focusing on your career, you’ll draft a short introduction for your CV or a conversation with an employer. If you’re building a business, you’ll describe what you offer, who it’s for and how it helps. We’ll work through examples of both together.

Read your career introduction or business description aloud and change anything you wouldn’t normally say.

What do you need to say?

For your career, we’ll practise conversations such as explaining a career break, asking about a role or discussing working hours. For your business, we’ll practise explaining your price, agreeing what’s included and setting a boundary with a client. You’ll use the scripts sheet to prepare a conversation that matters to you.

Adapt one script for an employer or a client and practise it privately. You don’t have to contact anyone during the class.

What will you do this month?

You’ll bring your work together into a 30-day plan. For your career, that might mean researching roles, preparing an application or arranging a professional conversation. For your business, it might mean speaking to potential customers, testing your idea or preparing an offer. The final group Q&A covers questions about putting either pathway into practice.

Choose your first career or business action, put it in your calendar and set a date to check how you’re getting on.

What you get

All five classes are free, including the materials below. You’ll use them to work through your ideas, prepare for conversations and decide what to do next in your business or career.

  • A workbook to build your plan. Bring together your skills, ideas and next steps in one place. By the final class, you’ll have worked on a 30-day plan for your business or career, with actions that fit the time you have.
  • Words to help with difficult conversations. Adapt the scripts to explain a career gap, introduce yourself to an employer, describe your business or tell a client what’s included. Make the wording your own and practise before you need it.
  • One manageable step between classes. Gather an example of your skills, draft your introduction or prepare a conversation with an employer or customer. Each task contributes to the work you’ll bring together at the end.
  • Time to ask Natalie your questions. The final class includes a group Q&A about applying the teaching to your business or career. Bring the questions that came up as you worked through the exercises.

The workbook and sheets will be shared in the class Facebook group, along with the joining information.

A few things you might be wondering

Will I have to buy anything?

You can ask questions about the teaching in the final group Q&A. The free classes do not include individual CV or business reviews.

Do I need Zoom and Facebook?

Yes. You’ll access the classes through Zoom and the Facebook group. The group is also where you’ll find your workbook and sheets.

Do I have to talk about my relationship?
